Ethics and Compliance Counsel (E&C)
The Compliance Counsel provides substantive counseling in anti-corruption and matters related to compliance with 3M’s Code of Conduct or policies in connection with the business, market, and geographic realities. This includes supporting the screening and selection of third parties, identifying and mitigating risks, and developing and deploying training and awareness on key policies and procedures.
The role also includes building a strong compliance culture through training, employee communication, leadership engagement, and counseling. The E&C Counsel is responsible for the review and approval of high-risk transactions, including but not limited to Sponsorships, Entertainment, Gifts, Meals and Donations, Conflicts of Interest, and Third Party Due diligence.
The Compliance Counsel will also contribute to compliance processes such as Risk Assessments, Compliance Evaluations of 3M operations, Third Party audits, and will monitor Ethics and Compliance metrics to identify trends and emerging risks, as well as monitor anti-corruption and compliance-related laws and regulations and enforcement trends to embed them in 3M´s Global Compliance Program to the specific countries as applicable.
The position will provide primary support to 3M´s operations in Brazil and Southern American Region and other operations of Latin America but can support Americas and Global teams as needed.
To embed compliance into the fabric of organizations, the role requires influencing skills to build partnerships with different stakeholders, create alliances when gaps are identified, and obtain dedication and support from various leaders.

The candidate must be a legal resident in Brazil, has a valid and active license to practice law in Brazil, qualified lawyer with more than 5 years of experience, at least 2 years with substantive experience with Ethics & Compliance programs in a multinational environment and experience with managing and leading direct reports.
Advanced to fluent in English and Spanish (speak, listen, write) and native in Portuguese. Additional languages are a bonus.
Track record of managing diverse, multicultural teams, working independently to serve clients, and working on or leading project and team members. Be able to work independently and with relatively low direct supervision.
Strong inter-personal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to establish strong work relationships with leadership teams, business and functional leaders as well all levels of the organization.
In order to be successful, the Compliance Counsel must be flexible and aware of cultural differences. Have strong listening capabilities and display strong empathy with the organizations. In his or her communication, the Compliance Counsel needs to be clear, engaging, and concise.
The candidate can opt to work remote or hybrid, nevertheless, the candidate must be able to go to the headquarter office in Sumare, Brazil when needed. Cost support to commute to the headquarters will be assessed in a case-by-case need.
Ability to travel up to 10% of time.
